A Common is the main form of Taken. Most were once hunters, campers or lumberjacks before being turned into this form of Taken.
In Alan Wake these Taken are capable of making ranged attacks in the form of throw hatchets or knives, in Alan Wake's American Nightmare they are unable to do this, most likely because of the introduction of a new ranged type of Taken called the Grenadier.
